Synergy 3 stops after a while (like 10 mins or so)? For some reason it just disappears off my menu bar and I have to open up the prefs pane and start it again. So if anyone knows why or a fix I'd appreciate it

Is your trial period over?

MacGenius

And you entered your license code in System Preferences -> Synergy -> About -> Enter serial number?
Is it crashing? If so, is a crash report being written to ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/?
Have you tried the basic trouble-shooting tips (applicable to any software, not just Synergy) at https://wincent.dev/s/bugs/ ?

The same questions as I asked previously apply here:

If by "repair rights" you refer to the repair permissions feature of the disk utility, that is probably a bit of a long shot.

I am having the same issue. This is what I see in the Console when it crashes...
2006-11-17 13:12:02.034 Synergy[498] com.apple.Dock warning - CGSession autoreleased with no pool present!

So is it actually crashing? That's just a warning message and doesn't indicate a crash. If it crashes you should find a corresponding log in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ (seeing the log would be very helpful).
Otherwise, pretty much the same questions apply here:

If you can post detailed answers to these questions I will be able to help.

Originally Posted By: areutsame problem here also but i use synergy on 2 of my comps with the same serial is that the problem? No, that wouldn't be the problem. Although Synergy licenses are per-machine licenses, there is no network checking or any other mechanism that would prevent you from using the same license on two machines.

weird then i get the same error as above
nothing in crash reports

I doubt that the CGSession warning is related to the problem, but I don't see that warning in my own logs so I can't investigate that avenue any further.
So there are no crash reports. Is it actually crashing? What happens if you run it from the console; what gets printed? For example, if installed (for all users) in /Library/Preferences/, you would type:
Code:cd /Library/PreferencePanes/Synergy.prefPane/Contents/Resources Synergy.app/Contents/MacOS/Synergy
If install in your home directory it would be:
Code:cd ~/Library/PreferencePanes/Synergy.prefPane/Contents/Resources Synergy.app/Contents/MacOS/Synergy
Still wondering if anyone who has participated in this thread has tried the basic trouble-shooting tips (applicable to any software, not just Synergy) on this page?:
Without more information the problem can't be fixed.

I have the same crashing problem. It just goes away from the menu bar after about 10 mins. I also have the same error Synergy[498] com.apple.Dock warning - CGSession autoreleased with no pool present! in the crash log.
This is on a brand new Core 2 Duo Macbook.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I am still wondering if anyone who has participated in this thread has tried the basic trouble-shooting tips (applicable to any software, not just Synergy) on this page?:
No one has answered that question yet.
It also seems that nobody who has seen the problem has tried running Synergy from the console as described above.
Without more information the problem can't be fixed.
