Security through obscurityEdit

Created 6/2/2007, updated 5/18/2017

Security through obscurity refers to security that relies on secret information, design or implementation details to prevent attack. It is fairly poorly regarded in many circles, especially among cryptographers, although it may be a useful component in a multi-layered defense in depth security model.
